Lovett Sponsor ThunderCat UK

Powerboats tore through the waves of Bournemouth on 20th and 21st of May for the third and fourth rounds of the ThunderCat Racing Championships.

The two-day event saw competitors from across the UK race in heats over a ‘M’ shaped circuit course and then tackle a 50 mile ‘Enduro’ race with laps between Bournemouth and Boscombe Piers.

Lovett International were proud sponsors of the winning team, James Tapp and co-driver Ed Redman, who are also world champions might we add. Yes! World champions driving the Lovett Thundercat – what can we say, we do things in style!

ThunderCat Racing is one of the world’s most exhilarating water sports. The primary purpose of a ThunderCat is surf racing and they race at high speeds in the surf of up to 5 metres and wind speeds up to 45 knots. Crews consist of a driver and a co-driver. Surf racing usually takes place as close to the shoreline as possible, ensuring an amazing spectacle for those on the shore, and fabulous racing for drivers and co-drivers.

Currently, the series is led by the team of Rob Davies and Darren Phillips representing Magor Racing, closely followed by the teams of Multispark Racing and Nationwide Vehicle Assistance. As sponsors, Lovett thoroughly enjoyed supporting such a high-profile event that is world-class in terms of talent, skill and true grit.

We had branded sail-flags on the beach, our logo on the side of the Thundercat and staff were interviewed on camera, which was lots of fun! We hope our sponsorship has helped support the sport and competition that takes place on our very own shores.

Put the weekend in your diary for next year and stay up to date with ThunderCat Racing via their Facebook page here.
