Lovett Win the Avon Valley Skittles League

Here at Lovett we are celebrating our recent League Win, and could not be happier to end the season in this way!

As a member of the Avon Valley Skittles League we have played each week since September to score points and aim for victory. It’s been a season of up’s and down’s and so we are delighted to have won the League overall this year.

15 teams are involved with the Avon Valley Skittles League. At the end of the season we are offered the chance to play additional games to score further points. Being part of the League is a great way to meet other local people who have an interest in the sport; whether it’s for fun or serious acclaim!

Avon Valley Skittles League started in September 2007 and was formerly known as “Ringwood Town football skittles league” and played at Ringwood football club, until the move to Hurn bridge. Teams have increased over the years and the club now has a significant following. Skittles is historically an old European lawn game, a descendant of bowling and across the UK the game remains a popular indoor pub game.

The game dates to the earliest known forms of bowling and ground billiards, even as far back as c. 3300 BCE in Ancient Egypt so there is a lot of heritage in the game.

The Lovett staff who are involved thoroughly enjoy their weekly games, using it as a great chance to catch up, socialise and improve their Skittles skills!

Once the results were in, the presentation night was held on Saturday 8th July at the Hurn Bridge Sports and Social Club, where Lovett were officially announced as the League Winners. Congratulations to Max, Julian, Lesley, Lynn, Maxi and the team for your fantastic win!
