The Property Hotspot
Christchurch has a reputation for being home to predominantly retired or elderly people and has been this way for some time now. Approximately 50% of all the homes in Christchurch are owner occupied. However, things are beginning to change in this regard. We have noticed that the number of enquiries and applicants we receive for rental properties is on the rise, and the vast proportion of these are from 20 to 30 year olds with young families. This is because of two things, firstly the quality of life offered in Christchurch is desirable, and coupled with the fact that Christchurch is home to several schools with outstanding OFSTED reports. These things make the town a very attractive prospect.
If you get the chance to purchase property in Christchurch or are looking for development opportunities I would advise looking in this direction. Although the prices are higher demand is also high and in the long term your investment will pay off. We know from experience that families are willing to pay a premium to be in catchment for excellent schools which is driving rental values up.
