Cycling Editorial Echo

Lovett Estate Agents are doing their bit for charity this June, when keen cyclists Julian Hewlett from their Boscombe office and Alec Mack-Nava from their Bournemouth office put their fitness to the test as they take on a highly intense cycle ride from John O’Groats to Lands’ End to raise money for the charity, Autism Wessex.

Their adventure starts on Sunday 9th June 2013 in John O’Groats, where they will be collectively covering 1024 miles (averaging over 100 miles per day), climbing 49,500ft and burning over 135,000 calories during their 9 day expedition, ending in Lands’ End on Tuesday 18th June 2013.

Julian and Alec will be accompanying fellow cycling enthusiast Mark Langford of Southampton Audi, who has organised the Charity Cycle Ride to raise money for Autism Wessex as his son, William aged 7, suffers with Asperger’s Syndrome and it is a cause close to his heart.

Autism Wessex is a regional charity providing high quality specialist services for people affected by Autism/Asperger’s and associated difficulties across the counties of Dorset, Somerset, Hampshire and Wiltshire. Their services are available to anyone who needs it – people with Autism/Asperger’s and associated difficulties, families and professionals. Anyone affected by autism can rely on them for their support.

While there is no cure for Autism/Asperger’s, they believe that with appropriate education, support or care and by making the world an easier place to understand, the impact of autism can be reduced and people with autism can be active citizens enjoying maximum independence and a good quality of life.

Lovett Estate Agents will be supporting the team by sponsoring the kit, along with Breeze Volkswagen who will be supplying the support vehicle which will be driven by Mark’s Dad, Richard.

Each day the cycling trio will be keeping a blog of their progress where you will be able to keep up to date with the latest news from their cycle jaunt. You can also donate money at their ‘Just Giving’ page, Help Autism 2013.

We would like to wish Julian, Alec and Mark the very best of luck with their charitable journey!
